Mente de Oaxaca.

Isolated within the mountains in the South of Mexico the Oaxacans do a great job of preserving its indigenous Zapotec culture. This manifests itself in many, many celebrations. There is not a day that goes by without spotting a comparsa (parade).  Different subcultures and villages surrounding the states capital gather on the main streets to represent their heritage. Dressing up in traditional clothing and performing traditional songs and dances. With this project I aspired to showcase their joy from within, spending time indulging myself in its many forms of expression.
